My Story...
The red chair recently made an appearance at the NCWIT Pacesetters Roundtable in Santa Cruz, CA. Not only was it the focal point of the registration table, it was also an integral part of launch of our new 2013-2015 group of Pacesetters. This group of thought leaders including senior executives and change leaders from both corporate and academia convened at the Roundtable, not only to discuss the issue of diversifying the field of computing, but also to start on the path toward taking action and creating change within their own organizations. Part of the event was dedicated to allowing attendees to share and discuss their goals, ideas, and concerns. The red chair served as the platform from which these important discussions were held. A member from each organization took a turn sitting in the chair in front of the rest of the group to explain their quantifiable goals around Net New Women, bringing in or retaining technical women in their own organization, and their approach toward achieving this goal. The discussions that stemmed from this exercise proved to be an invaluable learning experience for all.
